Aquarium Automatic Top Off system / Automatic water level control for aquariums and other liquid containers. Aquarium ATO system is especially useful in marine aquariums where unfavorable changes in water salinity due to evaporation are dangerous to the aquarium life. When ATO system is used, fresh water does not need to be added daily, which makes reef aquarium maintenance much easier.

This ATO unit has two water level float sensors with protective covers, magnetic sensor holders and a 12V water pump with 230V transformer unit. Transparent sensor cover protects the float switch from water movement and keeps snails and contaminants away from interfering with the float movement. All components of the system are detachable and replaceable.

Two sensors with magnetic holders provide extra safety. Magnetic brackets cannot detach from the aquarium wall which might happen with suction cup holders. Dual sensor system has an operation sensor, which will control the water pump and a secondary safety sensor, which will turn the pump off if the primary operation sensor is disabled. Safety sensor can be used to prevent the aquarium from overflowing or it can be placed in the replacement water container where it will turn the pump off if the water level drops too low. This prevents the pump from running dry.

NOTE! This is a pump operated ATO system, so the replacement water container has to be positioned below the water level of the main tank and the end of the pump hose has to be above the water level of the main tank. This will prevent an uncontrolled siphon from the water container to the aquarium or vice versa.

A dual sensor ATO system is always recommendable, especially if the aquarium can overflow due to a sensor failure in a location where there is no sewer on the floor. Magnetic bracket cannot detach itself from aquarium glass, but a float switch can jam due to small snails etc entering the sensor cover, so a safety sensor is very important.
