Cooling / ventilation fan unit for cooling aquarium water, for ventilating terrariums and for circulating air inside moist plant vivariums and miniature greenhouses.

This fan unit can be used to cool aquarium water by directing air flown to the water surface, which reduces water temperature by accelerated evaporation. The unit has two legs that enable it to be attached directly to the top of an aquarium glass wall up to 13mm thick. The legs can be rotated 90° which allows airflow towards or along the water surface.

The legs are detachable, so the fan unit can be easily placed on a flat ventilation mesh on aquarium or terrarium top. Fan unit can be also hung inside a terrarium or mini greenhouse with plastic covered steel wire which can be attached to the legs.

This device is plugged in a normal 230V / 50Hz power socket and it has an internal transformer which reduces the voltage for the fan unit. The fan part uses 12V voltage, hence it is very safe to use within high humidity terrariums

NOTE! This is a 230V / 50Hz device, but as the internal parts operate on 12V voltage, it can be sensitive to over voltage. Therefore, it should be protected against electrical surges (voltage spikes).

This fan has been tested with simple mechanical (analog) timers that will not manipulate the voltage, while digital timers might generate an electrical surge fatal to 12V parts.
